Snowshoeing in the Italian Alps in South Tyrol – the sports of the moment for pleasure-seekers
The breadth of the Valles valley floor, the many tracks through the Jochtal spruce forests, the sun-kissed Gitschberg mountain or the extensive pastures of Rodengo: snowshoeing is probably the most beautiful way of feeling South Tyrol's winter in your lungs.

Experiencing Nature at your own pace
Whether you do a lot of sports or not, the hiking paths around Valles give you the opportunity to enjoy the winter at exactly your own pace. Come and see for yourself: the large surface area of your footfall will prevent you from sinking deep into the snow. Thanks to effort-saving hiking you will be able to walk even for long distances. We recommend to start with half-day trips. For an enjoyable tour you should not exceed 3 hours of walking.Touring tips for snowshoeing
A wonderful snowshoeing tour not far from Valles leads through the snow-covered scenery of the Malga di Rodengo pastures up to the Astjoch col at 2,164 m above sea level. The panoramic view into the Isarco Valley and to the three highest pinnacles of the Dolomites (Tre cime di Lavaredo) as well as to the ice giants are rewarding enough for the effort. In the Gitschberg area you can reach the Zasslerhütte Lodge, the Plattspitze summit (2,672m) and the Moser Lodge with your snowshoes.Basic equipment for snowshoeing
You should definitely have a pair of quality boots, all-weather clothing, food (and drinks, best some hot tea), and walking sticks. If you don't have your own snowshoes you can rent them in Valles at:Leitner ski rental in Valles, lower terminus of Valles/Jochtal ski resort – Tel. +39 (0)472 547 221
