Nature is our source of strength and safe haven. That’s why we’re doing all we can to protect and preserve it. As a certified Vitalpina hotel, we place importance on soft tourism, sustainability, and regionality, and share our passion for the mountains with our guests. And that’s not all: At our hotel, you’ll also drink the purest spring water from the Schwand spring.
We obtain 100% of our energy from South Tyrolean hydropower and have been heating our hotel for over 25 years with the help of a wood chip heating plant that uses waste from South Tyrolean agriculture. 90% of our lighting is equipped with modern LED lamps, motion detectors and time controls to reduce electricity consumption. And of course we also reduce our water consumption wherever possible.
Daniel has been running his own farm for about two years now. He keeps around 60 Iberico pigs, 8 Scottish Highland cows, and 6 Black Angus cattle on his property. The agricultural products of these animals are carefully processed and then served to our guests.
Since autumn 2023, Daniel has also built his own smoking and curing chamber in a historic farmhouse here in Vals. There, he refines the end products of his livestock and creates unique delicacies.
Additionally, Daniel manages his own vegetable garden, where various herbs and vegetables are grown for our kitchen. Last autumn, Daniel harvested about 3500 kg of potatoes. Additionally, he maintains a small cutting flower garden for floral arrangements in our hotel.
Do you care about environmentally conscious travel and drive an electric car? Fantastic! In front of our hotel you’ll find an electric charging station. We separate rubbish in all areas of the hotel, and we kindly ask you to do the same. We know that your breakfast buffet is one of the highlights of your holiday, but to avoid unnecessary waste, we’ve reduced it ever so slightly. You’ll still enjoy tasty treats made of regional and seasonal products, but we just make sure that as little as possible has to be thrown away.
